Her experience is extensive. She has taught for many years, been a partner in a design company and has been exhibiting her own work for ten years or more.
Melanie's influences are from all things natural and with a Zen-like philosophy of 'less is more', shedding extraneous material, she refines interpretations of her experiences and emotions. She lived on the sea for some years and the elements and the environment, moods and contrasts are reflected in her sensuous abstract work where light animates the undulating surfaces of her metal.

Statement
The dividing line between art & design grows less distinct...
"I work mostly in pewter metal, designing and extending the possibilities of this material as an art medium; procuring a purity and refinement which has taken years to mature.
My influences are from all things natural and with the philosophy that 'less is more', I shed extraneous material to express an 'essence' through my interpretations of experiences and emotions. I lived on the sea for some years and the elements and the environment, the moods and contrasts are reflected in abstract work, where light animates the undulating surfaces of my metal.
I work in this personal, expressive way empathising with the environment and the natural world, which suffers so by our ruthless treatment and devaluation. In making a primal scream on nature's behalf, my work is replete with feeling."
